Medevac in dense fog off New York
A US Coast Guard rescue boat crew medevaced a crewmember from the "Nord Inspiration" which was anchored in New York Harborβs Lower Bay in the afternoon of Feb 11, 2013. The Coast Guard Sector New York received a report just before noon that a 46 year-old-man was in need of medical attention. The Sector New York consulted a flight surgeon who concurred the man required a medevac. A Coast Guard Station Sandy Hook, N.J., 47-foot motor lifeboat crew was dispatched to the ship and recovered the man by 3:25 p.m. The rescue boat crew transported him to Station Sandy Hook where he was transferred to emergency medical services waiting onshore. On scene were five to six foot waves and heavy fog. The weather made it a challenging evolution but it was completed safely, and the man was taken to Monmouth Medical Center and last reported to be in stable condition.
