Two port workers died of suffocation
Two port workers died of suffocation aboard the 'Wei He' at the Karachi Port Trust on May 10, 2022. The body of one of the labourers was recovered minutes after the incident, but it took much time to recover that of the second one. The men, aged 35 and 37, had by mistake entered a wrong hatch and fell into it due to poor visibility. They died of suffocation. The ship was carrying 52,272 metric ton seeds from Paranagua and had docked on April 30 at berths 10-11. The ship was staffed by a Chinese captain and crew, all of whom are safe.
