Saimaagracht found yacht of missing single hand sailor and sank it
On Apr 7, 2014, the "Saimaagracht" found the 11-m-yacht "Pokerface" drifting empty in the Atlantic Ocean of the Dutch solo sailor Sietse Hagen. Hagen had departed from Tenerife to Barbados on Jan 15 and has not been heard of since. The cargo ship was on the way from Savannah to Agadir when it encountered the sailing ship, a Gib’Sea Flush Poker, about 2000 kilometers off the Moroccan coast. The crew initially tried to get in contact by VHF radio. but when that failed, it was decided to go on board. The crew found the yacht with no one aboard. The documents showed that the "Pokerface" was owned by the 70-year Sietse Hagen from Tenerife. The ship was badly battered , as if it encountered stormy weather.
