Sagar-Bhushan

The 'Sagar Bhushan' with 101 people on board went adrift in position 19 24 25.2N, 071 50 45.6E, approximately 20 nautical miles from the Panna Field on May 17, 2021, at 8.30 a.m. The vessel lost all of its eight anchors. The INS 'Talwar' has proceeded to assist the ship as well as the accommodation barge 'SS-3' with 196 personnel on board. Both were drifting about 50 nautical miles Southeast of Pipavav Port. All the crew members on board the 'Sagar Bhushan' were safe and a towing connection has been established by the 'Samudra Sevak' and 'SV Cheel' of OSV. The ship arrived in Mumbai harbour on May 21 under tow.

The "Sagar Bhushan", after completion of repairs of fire damage suffered on Feb 13, had moved from the Cochin Shipyard to the outer roads of Cochin, from where it conducted trials. After a class surveyor inspection the drill ship has been cleared to return to service. The vessel then headed to Mumbai port.

The "Sagar Bhushan" was still in dry dock and the repair was in progress. The intended spares for completion of the work is being prevailed upon the suppliers by the shipyard for early supply to complete the work and hand over the vessel to its management Shipping Corporation of India. It was expected that the work was likely to take another month.
