Grounding off Borkum
In the evening of June 19, 2016, the "Wappen von Borkum" ran aground with 82 passengers on board off the port of Borkum. the ship got stuck two hours before the low tide, so the local DGzRS lifeboat "Alfried Krupp" of the DGzRS rushed to assist before the water level became too low. They managed to pull the ship off in time so that it could continue its voyage.
