Master died on board
On Feb 9, 201, at 05.18 a.m. the NSRI Table Bay duty crew responded to a request for medical assistance made to the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) from the "Elefsis" reporting that the master of the ship was suffering a suspected asthma attack and breathing difficulties while the ship was at anchorage in Table Bay On the arrival of the "Spirit of Vodacom" arrival on-scene the patient was found to be in a stable but deteriorating condition and despite emergency medication administered resuscitation efforts were commenced after the patient lapsed into unconsciousness. After all efforts to resuscitate the Filipino man were exhausted, he was declared deceased. His body was handed into the care of the Police Sea Borderline and brought ashore aboard a Police boat and handed into the care of the Forensic Pathology Services.
