Indian crew member died off Girone
On July 18, 2015, at 5:03 p.m. the CROSS Etel was alerted by the "Miss Maria Rosaria" after an Indian sailor of 50 years felt discomforted. The ship was 15 miles off the Gironde estuary after refueling at the oil terminal of Bordeaux. During a conference call between maritime Medical Consultation Center (MMCC) of Toulouse, Bayonne SAMU and CROSS, the decision was made to evacuate the sailor. The CROSS Etel dispatched a Dragon 33 helicopter DRAGON 33 of civil security based in Lacanau. It took off at 6:07 p.m. with a medicla team on board which reached the tanker at 6:25 p.m. The team was hoisted onto the ship and declared the patient dead at 7.15 p.m.
