Ferry suffered engine failure
On the afternoon of Oct 2, 2025, the Chios Port Authority was informed by the Greek Coastguard about a failure in the port side main engine of the 'Psara Glory' west of Chios, while the ferry was executing a scheduled route from Psara to Chios with 14 passengers, two private cars, two other vehicles and one motorcycle on board. The ship sailed unassisted at a reduced speed to the port of Mesta, Chios. The ship was banned from sailing by the Mesta Port Station until the presentation of a seaworthiness certificate from the classification society that monitors it.
Captain died in his cabin
An alarm was raised in the morning of May 3, 2023, at the Port Authority of Psara when they were informed by the Chief Officer of the “Psara Glory” that the 54-year-old Captain was found unconscious in his cabin. The Master of the ferry died in his cabin despite the efforts of the doctor to keep him alive. An official of the Port Authority and a doctor immediately went to the scene, who provided first aid, to no avail, and then he was pronounced dead. The Psara Port Station, which conducted the preliminary investigation, ordered an autopsy, while the “Psara Glory” did not perform its morning itinerary Psara – Volissos (Chios) – Psara and was under prohibition of departure, until anothercaptain was on board.
Engine repair in Perama
The Port Authorities of Chios, Mesta and Psara were informed by the captain of the 'Psara Glory' about a damage of the starboard side main engine while operating between the ports of Psara and Chios on Jan 23, 2022. The ferry arrived at Perama, on Jan 31 at 07.15 a.m. UTC for repairs, where she remained statioary as of Feb 6.
Allision in Chios
In the morning of Jan 17, 2016, the "Psara Glory" allided with the southern breakwater in Chios due to strong winds which exceeded 100 km/h, while Docking in port. The üier and the Stern of the ship suffered damage. The ferry was banned from sailing until repairs have been carried out.
