Two allisions in Brunsbüttel
On April 10, 2026, at 5:14 p.m., the "Berkborg", enroute from Sczcecin to Delfzijl with a cargo of sodium silicate, allided with the lock's guide wall while entering the new North Lock of the Kiel Canal in Brunsbüttel after transiting the waterway. The vessel was required to file a report, while there were no damages reported. The ship arrived in the port of destination on April 11. At the same time, at 5:16 p.m., the cargo m/v "Lindeborg" (IMO: 9279068), while approaching the locks from the Elbe River, enroute from Harlingen to Hamina, allided with several mooring dolphins in the outer harbor near the entrance to the old North Lock at Pier 2. The vessel was required to file a report in the old lock and was temporarily banned from sailing. After the investigation was completed, the vessel was permitted to continue its eastward journey at 6:24 p.m. with an ETA at the port of destination as of April 15.
