Primula-Seaways

In the afternoon of Feb 22, 2019, the "Primula Seaways", coming from Gothenburg, ran aground at the entrance of the outer port of Terneuzen and was slightly damaged. The ship entered the western foreport arond 12.30 p.m. on its way to Ghent when it got stuck by unknown reasons. The ship was soon refloated and entered the western lock of the Ghent-Terneuzencanal. It was detained for inspection in the bulk port in the Mercator Dock at 4.30 p.m. The police boarded the patrol boat "RWS 88" of Rijkswaterstaat, which had just attended the damaged barge"Daniella" after it had hit a pillar at Sluiskil a few hours before, and boarded the ferry once she had berthed. The "Primula Seaways" left the Fayard yard in Odense on Apr 5, 2018, and was ready to be deployed from Gothenburg on Apr 8 which means she will be back on the full and original sailing plan on Apr 11 when the "Jutlandia Seaways" returns to the Cuxhaven-Immingham route. On Apr 6 the ferry was still berthed in Vigerö port. She finally sailed on Apr 7 at 9.15 p.m. and headed to Gothenburg, where she berthed on Apr 8 at 7.45 a.m. and returned to its schedule with the departure on Apr 9 short past midnight bound to Ghent.

On March 9 the "Primula Seaways" left Gent bound to Fayard in Odense for repairs, ETA March 11. DFDS hoped that the ferry could be back in operation during the first half of April. The "MSC Madrid" was at Antwerp Ship Repair. DFDS hoped that the ferry can be back in operation sooner than previously feared. Thanks to good cooperation between all parties involved, it had been possible to enter into an agreement on the repair with Fayard. If everything goes according to plan, the ship will be repaired and back in service during the first half of April thanks to the fast and professional work of the involved authorities, insurance companies, crew, yard, classification society and the own colleagues of DFDS. As a temporary solution, DFDS has chartered the ro-ro ship "Neptune Dynamis" (IMO: 9240976).
