Trogir

On Dec 9, 2025, the 'Trogir', enroute from Iskenderun to Djibouti with 22 crew members and a cargo of iron ore on board, was disabled in the Gulf of Aden due to water ingress from the stern and a partiallly flooding of the engine room, resulting in a complete blackout and loss of propulsion. Upon the request for assistance, the salvage tug 'Giant' (IMO: 9255907), which has been stationed in Djibouti since July, partly as a response to Houthi assaults on shipping over the past two years, embarked on its first salvage operation since its arrival in the region. It took the bulk carrier in tow and pulled it out of the high risk area. The 'Trogir' reached Djibouti Roads and was anchored in pos. 11° 41' N 043° 09' E on Dec 12, where a salvage team from Athens went on board the vessel. The crew on board was safe and in good health.
