Medevac in choppy seas
The Tynemouth RNLI all weather lifeboat on Sep 13, 2011, went to the assistance of an injured crewman aboard the "Tridens". The lifeboat was requested to launch at 4.12 pm by Humber Coastguard after they received an emergency radio call from the skipper of the vessel reporting that a crewman had sustained a bad ankle injury and needed urgent hospital treatment. The RNLI lifeboat with six volunteer crew reached the "Tridens", anchored a mile off Tynemouth, just five minutes after launching and transferred the injured man onto the lifeboat, a task made difficult by the very strong wind and choppy sea. The lifeboat then travelled at speed back to North Shields Fish Quay where the crewman was helped ashore and taken by paramedics to hospital.
