Bulk carrier broke down in Istanbul Strait
Shipping traffic in the Istanbul Strait has been suspended in both directions due to an engine malfunction on the 'Trackhound', transiting in North- South direction enroute from Istanbul to the Russian port Novorossiysk, off the coast of İstinye, on April 3, 2026, at 7.50 p.m. Following the incident off Çubuklu, Coast Guard teams were dispatched to the area. The tugs 'Kurtarma 5' (IMO: 9463164) and 'Nazım Tur' (IMO: 9513086), along with the SAR boat 'Kiyem 5' (MMSI: 271044343) of the General Directorate of Coastal Safety, were deployed to the ship, which was located near the Çubuklu Ferry Terminal. It was towed to the Istanbul Anchorage and moored in pos. 40° 58' N 028° 56' E.
