Tanker ran aground on Suez Canal
The 'Affinity V', en route from Sines to Yanbu, lost control and ran aground while transiting the Suez Canal southwards on Aug 31, 2022, at 7.15 p.m. LT at kilometer mark 143 due to a rudder failure. The accident happened halfway between Bitter Lakes and Suez. Five tugs of the Canal Traffic Control quickly responded, and the tanker was refloated three hours later. It completed the transit at slow speed and tug assistance and was moored at Suez Anchorage on Sep 1 at around 02.30 a.m. in pos. 29° 53.30' N 032° 32.22' E.
