The master of the "Tosa", who is facing charges of alleged `involuntary manslaughter' in Taiwan, returned to Mangalore on Oct 2, 2010. The verdict is likely to be pronounced mid-October. The captain was released after a trade-off over monetary. The Centre to investigate the "Tosa" case regarding the manner in which the process was adopted in Taiwan where the captain was detained for 18 months. The chamber got involved in the case last May. The man was placed under arrest after โ Tosaโ had collided with the โShingtong Cheng 86โ, a Taiwanese fishing trawler, killing two persons. Besides the captain, a second officer from Bangladesh and a seaman from the Philippines were also arrested by the coastal police on April 17, 2009. Possible the โTosaโ had not collided with the trawler, but the boat capsized in the wake of the bigger vessel.
