Mechanic timewise arrested on suspicion of drug possession
A mechanic of the 'Pichincha' was arrested on the streets of Long Beach on March 8, 2023, for "possession/purchase of controlled substance" for sale by the local Police, who inspected the ship after the pump operator Ángel F., 37, was charged by the Long Beach Police, due to the suspicion that there were possibly illegal substances on board.. He had $73.30 and two cell phones and which were retained as evidence. The tanker had arrived at the port of California on March 5 and was unloading its cargo of oil of nearly 700,000 barrels of Crude Oriente. The crew was kept under surveillance on board, with security measures and unable to go ashore during the procedure. The police interrogated several and requisitioned Ángel F.'s cabin, who was later released for lack of evidence and deported. The tanker left Long Beach again on March 12.
