Ship abandoned after cargo shift
The 'Phuc Tuan 36' issued a distress signal on July 7, 2021, around 2.30 p.m. Beijing timeeast of Haikou, Hainan island, in the South China Sea. The Master reported a cargo shift and heavy portside list The crew prepared to abandon vessel. The MRCC Qinglan coordinated an SAR operation and deployed a rescue ship and diverted nearby cargo ships. All 12 crew members were rescued by the Chinese freighter 'Ren Shun Da'.
