Tiksy

For 24 hours, the Russian ship "Tiksy" has been sailing at very slow speed southwest of Åna-Sira. 40 kilometers off the coast of Southwest Norway, on Jan 24, 2026, and was moving at less than one knot. The ship had left Arkhangelsk on Jan 14 and was heading for St. Petersburg. The ship entered Jæren on the morning and has been moving at a very low speed throughout the night. At most, the speed has been two knots. The reason behind it could have been a mechanical problem, or that the mission has been changed, that they fear being arrested by French or American forces if they continued sailing or that they were conducting some form of intelligence gathering.On Feb 1, the ship made a u-turn and headed to Kaliningrad, where it arrived on Feb 5. In May 2022, the Russian shipping company TK Northern Project LLC and 15 of its ships, including the "Tiksy", were sanctioned by the United States for participating in the transport of weapons to Russia.

The "Tiksy" suffered engine failure on Sep 18, 2018, at 7.13 a.m. off Senja, 50 miles north of Andøya, while enroute from Arkhangelsk to Alexandria, and went adrift in calm seas. A turbo started to smoke. On Sep 20 the ship accepted a towing contract after the crew failed to fix the propulsion problem. The ship could only move ahead with two knots due to a damaged turbo. In the evening it was taken in tow by the tugs "Stone" (IMO: 6917516) and "Borg Mini" (MMSI: 257455900) as steering tug towards Tromsø. The ship initially was headed to Alexandria.
