Ferry suffered issue with control system
The 'Peter Dass', operating between Mekjarvik and Kvitsøy, suffered technical problems on Oct 1 and had to be taken out of service. The issue concerned the control system of the ship, and troubleshooting was underway. The ferry was scheduled to be able to proceed to Mekjarvik to pick up spare parts, to get back on schedule quickly. Delays were expected throughout the day as a consequence.
Ferry suffered technical problems
The 'PEtter Dass', serving on the route Mekjarvik-Kvitsøybuen, suffered a technical failure on the afternoon of Jan 24, 2025, which also meant that several people have not been able to get home to Kvitsøy during weekend, but have had to find other options for accommodation. Only on Jan 26 the islanders could return home shortly before 9 a.m.
Ferry disabled off Sandnessjøen
On Oct 19, 2018, the "Petter Dass" suffered engine trouble and had to be towed to the port of Sandnessjøen by the tug "Boa Balder". Due to the technical problems she had to cancel the scheduled trips on the route Søvik-Herøy-forbindelsen as of 1.45 p.m. The ferry "Alsten" was inserted as a replacement ferry at 4.30 p.m. Travelers to Herøy were diverted onto the ferry "Tenna". Ferry slammed into breakwater
The "Petter Dass" ran aground at Nesvik on June 16, 2016, at 9.07 a.m. The Hjelmeland ferry hit the breakwater at the ferry quay. There were no passengers or vehicles on board when it happened. In the afternoon the ferry "Stallovarre" thrown was sent from Stavanger to Jøsenfjorden as a replacement ferry, supported by the "Hjelmeland" at 4 p.m. The cause of the grounding was being investigated.
