Tifani

On the night of April 20, 2026, the US military has seized the 'Tifani', enroute from Dongjiakou to Singapore for orders, which has been sanctioned for smuggling Iranian crude oil. They stopped the vessel in the Indo-Pacific and dropped off US marines by helicppter without incident in the Bay of Bengal, between Sri Lanka and Indonesia. The tanker was carrying around two million barrels of crude oil, which had been loaded at Kharg Island earlier in April. It had crossed Dondra Head on April 19 and entered South-East Asian waters on April 20. It was sailing at a speed of around six knots on April 21. The interception occurred under US INDOPACOM's area of responsibility. The INDOPACOM is the US Indo-Pacific Command, responsible for the Indian and Pacific oceans and surrounding areas.  In the past, the 'Tifani' has sailed under multiple flags including Malaysia, St. Kitts and Nevis, Tanzania, Cameroon, Panama and Palau. Its current flag is listed as “not known”. The US Coast Guard medevaced a 66-year-old man approximately 92 miles offshore of Galveston, Texas, in the morning of Nov 9, 2018. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a request from the captain of the "Bunga Kastori" stating their chief engineer was having difficulty breathing and was in need of medical assistance. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon who recommended the medevac. A Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and a Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew were launched to the scene. The helicopter crew hoisted and transferred the crewmember to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at Scholes International Airport in Galveston. Weather on scene was reported as 1-foot seas with 10 mph winds.
