Thor-Magnhild

The captain of the 'Thor Maghnhild', which was docked at Trois-Rivières, Quebec, called the emergency services in the night of Feb 18, 2021, after six of the 24 Thai crew members had fallen ill with diarrhea and vomit. When paramedics arrived, they found that the situation was much worse than initially reported as 17 crew members suffered the same symptoms, so all of them have been taken to hospital for checks and treatment. Later on Feb 19, some of them returned to the ship after their health situation had improved .It was expected, that the majority of hospitalized crew would be able to return to the ship soon. The ship had arrived at Trois-Rivières on Feb 16 from Alumar. The Canadian authorities expressed their concern, fearing that this sudden mass illness might be somehow caused by the Brazilian variant of covid 19 though food poisoning was thought to be the main version.
