Fire in cabin area

On the morning of Nov 11, 2024, the Port Authority of Keratsini was informed abouta fire in the accommodation cabins in the forward part of the 'Pelagitis', which was docked at pier C1 of the port of Keratsini. Officials of the Port Authority rushed to the scene, and safely evacuated the ship's crew. One sailor felt unwell and was taken by private vehicle to a hospital. The Fire Service attended with four vehicles, who extinguished the fire. No marine pollution was observed from the incident, while material damage was caused to the cabin areas. The 2nd Port Department of Keratsini of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus, which was conducting the preliminary investigation, banned the ship from sailing until the presentation of a certificate of seaworthiness by the classifier monitoring it.

The 'Pelagitis', en route from Piraeus to Chios with four passengers, 21 crew members and 24 vehicles on board, was in collision with the bulk carrier 'Paradise Island' (IMO: 9623764), en route from PRovidence to Aliaga with 21 crew members on board, in the Kafirea Strait on Sep 21, 2022, at around 9 p.m. UTC Both ships were sailing roughly in northeastern direction and suffered minor damages but nevertheless. They were ordered to drop anchor at Karystos Bay. On Sep 22 at around 9 a.m., the 'Pelagitis' was moored in pos. 37° 59.23' N 024° 25.21' E, the 'Paradise Island' in pos. 37° 58.13'N 024° 25.86' E.

Elevator failure in Thessaloniki

On Jan 15, 2022, at noon the Port Authority of Thessaloniki was informed by the Captain of the 'Pelagitis' about a damage to the elevator of lower deck trucks, during loading operatins while serving the route to the ports of Myrina-Mytilene-Chios-Piraeus. The Central Port Authority of Thessaloniki, which was conducting the preliminary investigation, initially prohibited the departure of the ship. After an inspection and presentation of a certificate of class maintenance by the classification society that monitors it, its departure was allowed. The ship left the port on Jan 16 at 12.10 a.m., headed to Myrina with an ETA as of 1 p.m.
