Ship fined for oil pollution
A fine of 3.028.355 Turkish Lira was imposed on the 'ASL Lisa', which berthed in Gebze on Oct 5, 2021, and was found to have polluted the sea in the Gulf of Izmit. Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality teams noticed that there was sea pollution in Belde Port during their routine inspections in the Gulf of Izmit with a patrol boat. It was determined that the ship that caused the pollution was bulk carrier due to a hydraulic oil leakage. Anti pollution works were carried out.
