Container ship adrift in South China Sea
On the afternoon of Nov 10, 2025, the 'Papu' was disabled and went adrift in the South China Sea off the coast of Guangdong, enroute from Nava Sheva to Qingdao. According to the Guangdong Maritime Safety Administration (MSA), the container ship became uncontrolled in pos. 22°54′58″N, 117°42′30″E in the Guangdong Province waters near the Taiwan Strait. The last AIS broadcast was made on the morning of Nov 9, and its navigational status was set at “stopped”. The Guangdong MSA requested passing vessels to keep a sharp lookout and steer clear of the area. The ship has since been successfully towed to the Guishan Anchorage, where it was moored in pos. 22° 08' N 113° 46' E on Nov 16.
