Bulkcarrier grounded on the Weser
On Nov 1, 2017, at 2.45 p.m. the "Nautical Runa“ broke lose from its moorings at the silos of the J. Müller company in Brake. The ship with its draught of 12,20 meters drifted perpendicular to the Weser fairway and got stuck. At midday the ship had started to unload 53.000 tons of food products from Aratu. It was initially stabilized and kept in position by the tugs "Bugsier 17" (IMO: 9036234), "V.B. Rechtenfleth" (IMO: 8701090) and "VB Blumenthal" (IMO: 8912223) in the outgoing tide. A bow anchor was also dropped. The lowest water level on the river was at 6 p.m. Ship traffic on the Weser was shut down in Brake except for small vessels. At 8 p.m. the tugs "Bugsier 1" (IMO: 9320908), "Bugsier 4" (IMO: 9376191), "V.B. Geeste"" (IMO: 9454307) and "Alte Weser" (IMO: 9502233) managed to refloat the bulkcarrier with the rising tide and berthed it at the South Pier. She left port again on Nov 7 at 3 p.m. bound to Narvik, ETA Nov 11.
