Stevedore seriously injured in fall on board
A 28-year-old port worker from Gisborne was taken to the Tauranga Hospital's intensive care unit after falling eight meters down during the loading of the "Pakhoi" on Dec 19, 2017, at 7.15 p.m. The stevedore received serious injuries and work was stopped on the ship to allow an investigation to begin. Two St John ambulances were dispatched to the Mount Maunganui side of the port. The man was in a stable condition. After the scene examination had been completed and the ship, which had entered port on Dec 18, was allowed to sail at 9.30 p.m. and headed to Lianyungang.
