Fishing boat sank after collision

On Dec 21, 2022, at around 7:45 a.m. the 'Tamon' en route from Ube to Kobe with five crew members on board, was in collision with the Japansese 4,5-ton-fishing boat 'Gunke Maru' of the Awaji City/Ichinomiya Town Fisheries Cooperative Association, which sank off the coast of Harimanada, about 11 kilometers off the west coast of Awaji Island, Hyogo Prefecture. The 79-year-old skipper was rescued by a pleasure boat sailing nearby. The Himeji Coast Guard Office was investigating the accident. The 'Tamon' suffered a scratch on the bow and a bent handrail.
