Boxship still in port..
.. after the "X Press Etna" ran aground on the embankment of the New Maas between the Madroel port and Eemhaven at Pernis in the morning of Nov 13 at 8.30 a.m. after having suffered engine failure. The "X-Press Etna" had left the Waal Port in Rotterdam enroute to St. Petersburg before. The tugs "Multratug 16" and "Fairplay 23" pulled the container ship off again at around 1:15 p.m. with the rising tide. The "Multratug" remained on standby during the salvage work. The boxship had to be inspected before it was allowed to sail. For this purpose it was taken back to the Prins Johan Friso Port. X-Press Feeders boxship runs aground in Rotterdam
A 868 teu containership owned by Singapore’s X-Press Feeders ran aground in Rotterdam yesterday morning around 7:30am local time. The X-Press Etna grounded shortly after leaving Rotterdam port due to an engine failure. It grounded at Pernis, attracting a sizeable crowd despite poor weather. Rotterdam Port Authority was called in, sending tugs to refloat the ship just after 1pm. There was no contamination from the incident and the vessel was taken to nearby Frisohaven for inspections. Allision in Brunsbüttel
In the morning of Oct 10, 2016, the "X-Press Etna" allided with the Great Northern Lock in Brunsbüttel. Around 6 a.m. the ship got too close to the inner wall and hit it. The ship suffered two dents, the lock wall suffered damage too. The ship which was enroute from Szczecin to Hamburg was allowed to continue the voyage short past 7 a.m. and berthed in Hamburg at 10.30 a.m. On Oct 11 it continued to Antwerp.
