The "Maria G.O.", being loaded with coal bound to Banyuquan, veered off the fairway and ran aground on the East Banks south of Facing Island, Gladstone,on Nov 26, 2018, at 11 p.m. shortly after leaving the port. The ship was refloated about one hour later with the help of eight tugs and moored for inspections in pos. 23° 52.11' S 151° 30.06' E on the outer anchorage. The bulkcarrier sailed from Gladstone anchorage on Dec 6.

On Apr 5, 2015, around 1 p.m. the bulkcarrier "Yang En 1" of the Zhejiang Grace Yang Shipping Co., Ningbo, collided with the "Maria G.O." 18 miles southeast of Weihai Isle. The En 1' suffered water ingress, and the crew of 14 abandoned ship and boarded a liferaft. They were rescued by passing vessels. The unloaded ship was coming from Ningbo, Yantai. It could be berthed at the Rongcheng Yuantong Shipyard in Shidao at 3.30 p.m. The crew of 19 aboard the "Maria G.O." which was loaded with 10,000 tons manganese ore and coming from Tianjin, Lianyungang, remained uninjured, their ship was only slightly damaged.
