A cooler saved the life of a fisherman from Celestún, who was shipwrecked 24 miles off the coast of Celestún on Jan 31, 2022, when his boat sank while returning from fishing. The second man aboard grabbed a buoy and was rescued by other riverside people. After two days of drifting in the fiberglass structure, the 'Queen B', en route from Coatzacoalcos to Manatee, Florida, rescued the castaway off the Yucatan Peninsula about 50 or 60 miles from the coast on Feb 2. Once on board, the fisherman received care, clothing and food. The ship took him further to Manatee and then to Veracruz. Upon the return to Coatzacoalcos the ship will deliver the castaway. The day of the events, the riverside boat was returning from fishing, but a tidal wave sank it, one of the two fishermen named Werner, The shipwreck occurred about 24 miles north of that western port.
