Another pilot accident on the Elbe
An Elbe pilot fell from the fallreep of the "Xin Ya Zhou" and suffered an arm fracture and multiple other injuries on Mar 18 at 3.35 p.m. The pilot had taken the cargo ship from Hamburg towards Brunsbuettel. When he went off the ship, he slipped off the fallreep and fell four metres down onto the foreship deck of the pilot boat which was alongside and should take him back to shore. He was medically treated and then taken to a hospital in Itzehoe. Winds were blowing with 6-8 bf at that time. The Chinese cargo ship continued its voyage to Rotterdam. Only one month ago another pilot died after having fallen into the Elbe.
