Two groundings in storm
The pusher tug "Matsusho Maru", 370 dwt (IMO: 8889593),with the barge "Matsusho" was pushed aground on March 1, 2018, at 1.30 a.m. at the coast of the Kichi Prefecture in the Wakayama area upon Shikoku Island, by a strong storm which battered southwestern Honshu and Shikoku. The barge was loaded with general cargo. The seven crew members of the tug were airlifted by a helicopter of the Japanese Coastguard. At 7 a.m. the "Qem Star", coming from Ningbo, was pushed aground at the Higashi Harima port entrance, Honshu. The tanker was in ballast. The 16 Filipino crew of the tanker remained on board.
