55 container vans with illegally cut logs seized
The Phillippine Coastguard has seized 55 container vans containing undocumented and illegally cut logs onboard the "Lorcon Dumaguete" during a raid inside the Manila North Harbor. The ship was in port form June 27-29, 2012. The PCG Detachment in North Harbor received an intelligence report from the National Bureau of Investigation that there was an incoming log shipment from Davao via Cebu at Pier 16. Operatives of both the NBI and PCG conducted an inspection on the vessel and found undocumented forest products concealed in the container vans. They confiscated the logs and turned over them to the Bureau of Customs and Anti-illegal Logging Task Force for proper disposition. The "Lorcon Dumaguete" meanwhile departed bound for Davao, ETA July 2.
