Medevac off Port Elizabeth
On Dec 9, 2014, at 5.25 p.m the NSRI rendezvous with the "NYK Laura", which was sailing from Paranagua to Singapore, two nautical miles off-shore of Port Elizabeth, to medevac a 33 year old Filipino crewman suffering suspected appendicitis. On arrival on-scene NSRI medics went aboard the ship and escorted the patient down the pilots ladder and he was brought into the Port of Port Elizabeth aboard the lifeboat "Eikos Rescuer IV", and the ship's agent has transported him to hospital for further treatment.
