Grounding at Ahırkapı Anchorage
On March 21, 2025, at around 9 p.m. UTC, the 'Xin Hai Tong 37' ran aground at the Ahırkapı Anchorage in pos. 40° 57' N 028° 51' E en route from Burgas to Mozambique in loaden condition. The lifeboats 'Kiyiemniyet 4' (MMSI: 271010032), 'Kiyiemniyet 3' (MMSI: 271010031), and the tug 'Kurtarma 7' (IMO: 9598608 ) were deployed to the grounding site immediately by Coastal Safety. A pilot as well as a diver team have been dispatched to investigate the hull. Efforts were commenced to salvage the bulk carrier. No injuries or pollution have been reported in the incident. The ship was refloated and anchored in pos. 40° 56' N 028° 52' E on March 28, where it remained stationary as of April 2.
