Grounding in Kali Limenes
The 'Star Centaurus' ran aground in Kali Limenes while heading from Jorf Lasfar to Suez in the morning of June 22, 2020, with 23 crew members on board. The ship was refloated by the tug 'Pyrros' and anchored safely in pos. 34° 55.68' N 024° 49.29' E in the bay of Kali Limenes, where an oil boom was laid out around the ship as a precautionary measure. The Port Authority of Limenes conducted a preliminary investigation and banned the ship from sailing until the presentation of a class maintenance certificate by the attending classification society.
