On the night uf Aug 3, 2024, Salvamento Maritimo has coordinated the rescue of three people who were adrift in a rubber boat tonight, after having left La Restinga (south of the Canary Islands) to fish. The Center received an alert from a friend of the people, who had not heard from them for three days and believed they could be adrift. A few minutes after the call, maritime controllers managed to contact the inflatable boat by satellite phone, so the crew of the boat explained that they had not been able to ask for help because the SOS button on the phone, which also hadno credit, did not work, although they have a battery and the possibility of recharging it. After providing its position, almost 600 kilometres southwest of La Restinga, Salvamento Marítimo started looking for ships in the area, and finally the 'Xin An Ning' was diverted towards the position of the inflatable boat. At 9:04 am, theship reported that after locating the boat, it had rescued the three people on board in good health and continued its journey to the port of Río Haina. Report with photo:
