Offshore ship sold to Danish Navy to protect infrastructure
The 'Norwind Helm' has been sold by the Norwind Offshore, a Norwegian company, to the Danish Ministry of Defence. The vessel was still in Eemshaven on Jan 1, 2026, and was working at an offshore wind farm off the coast. The vessel entered service in October 2024. The Danish Ministry of Defence will use it to monitor, guard, and protect critical underwater infrastructure. Modifications will be made to deploy the vessel for this purpose, such as the installation of underwater drones and sensors. The ship is expected to enter service in 2026 for the Danish Ministry of Defence, where it will be added to the naval fleet. Afterwards, the crew will undergo training. Because the ship is being added to the naval fleet, its name will also be changed.
Medevac after work accident
On May 16, 2025,, a serious work accident occurred on the 'Norwind Helm' in the Danish sector of the North Sea. A man, who was seriously injured in the foot, was about to be transferred to a satellite platform,, when the accident happened. He was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Denmark for medical treatment. The Danish Labour Inspection Authority is investigating the incident and has been on board. The man was not employed by the shipping company, the of Ålesund-based Nordwind Offshore.
