501 migrants rescued off Crete

On the evening of June 21,.2025, the 'Muazezz K', enroute from Abu Qir to Koper, rescued 501 migrants from a troubled fishing boat 49 nautical miles south of Crete. The Port Authorities of Agia Galini, Kala Limeni, Kokkinos Pyrgos and Paleochora were informed by the Greek Coastguard about the boat in difficulties, and a patrol bpat. a öofebpat, the opffshore ship 'Path', a Navy Frigate and three passing ships were asked to assist. After the fishing vessel was located, the 'Muazzez K' picked up the occupants with the assistance of the patrol boat and the lifeboat. Subsequently, they were transported to the Messara Bay anchorage, where they were transferred to the rescue resources and safely taken to the port of Agia Galini. Subsequently, they were transferred to a temporary accommodation facility in Rethymno, accompanied by Coastguard officers. During the preliminary investigation conducted by the Rethymno Port Authority, in collaboration with the Directorate of Security and Protection of Maritime Borders, four (Egyptian nationals, aged 21, 36, 21 and 20, were identified as the human traffickerand were arrested for violating article 83 of Law 3386/2005 “Illegal entry into the country”, article 25 of Law 5038/2023 “Facilitation”, article 45 of the Criminal Code “Aid” and article 306 of the Criminal Code “Exposure”. According to a statement by the survivors, they had set off in the evening hours of June 20 from the coast of Tobruk, Libya. The Directorate of Security and Protection of Maritime Borders, in collaboration with the Port Authority of Rethymno, was analyzing and processing in depth all the information that has emerged and was investigating the possible expansion of the activities of the members of the organization in question, as well as its collaboration with other members of organized crime groups, with the same or similar activities. First ship with Ukrainian grain arrived in port

The first ship to reach its port of destination since the Russian war against the Ukraine with a cargo of corn was the 'Polarnet'. The ship reached the Derince port inIzmit on Aug 8 at 9.50 a.m. It had sailed from Chornomorsk with 12.000 tons corn on Aug 5.

The 'Navi Star' (IMO: 9590979) was the next bulk carrier to leave the port of Odessa with a cargo of grain towards the Bosphorus. It sailed on Aug 5 at 6.20 a.m. URC with two more ships, among them the 'Polarnet' to follow from the port of Chornomorsk. They were carrying altogether 58.000 tons corn. The 'Navi Star' was expected off Istanbul for inspections on Aug 6 at around noon LT. The 'Polarnet' had an ETA at Derince as of Aug 7.
