Medevac off Cold Bay
A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak aircrew, forward-deployed to Cold Bay, medevaced a crew member of the 'Northern Eagle' near Dutch Harbor in the morning of Jan 24, 2023. Watchstanders at the Coast Guard 17th District command center in Juneau, received the initial request for the medevac at 5:55 a.m. from the vessel after a crew member had injured his right hand. The Watchstanders at the Coast Guard 17th District command center requested the 'Northern Eagle' to meet the Air Station Kodiak aircrew at a rendezvous point approximately 30 miles north of Cold Bay to embark the patient. The MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew hoisted the 47-year-old man from the vessel and transported him back to Cold Bay for a wing-to-wing transfer with LifeMed Alaska personnel.
