Tanker breached by tug
The tug "Ona Don Lorenzo" struck the"Coipo" on Apr 29, 2017, at 11..45 a.m. in Buenos Aires during docking maneuvers at the B Termnal of Dock Sud. The tanker’s hull was breache, and oil leaked out which spread to the oil terminal which is part of the petrochemical complex 150 meters from Demarchi Island with a large concentration of fuel tanks and chemical storages. Ship traffic in the affected area was suspended by the Argentine Naval Prefecture, Fluvial Nacional and the Maritime Authority. The breached area was surrounded by booms and an oil removal operation commenced. The uotflow of oil was brought under control during the day, leaving the task of neutralization of the oil contamination.
