Noren

On Dec 10, 2025, at 2:19 p.m. the Swedish JRCC was notified about the collision of the 'Noren', enroute from Shoreham to Hargshamn, with a Swedish 20-m-trawler near Onsala, northwest of Nidingen in the Kungsbackan community. The JRCC deployed the patrol vessels 'Poseidon-KBV 001' and the smaller 'KBV 475' of the Coast Guard, an SAR helicopter from Gothenburg and the lifeboat 'Josephine' (MMSI: Obsala ) from the Sjöräddningssällskapet in Hovås. It soon became clear that no critical damage had occurred to the ships, and that no one was in danger. A preliminary investigation into negligence in maritime traffic has been initiated. An investigation was launched to determine the course of events and whether there is any suspicion of a crime. Sobriety checks have been carried out on board without any complaints. On Dec 11, the Coast Guard announced that the captain of the 'Noren' was sentenced to 60 daily fines for negligence in maritime traffic, which were paid on the spot. The damage to both ships was only superficial, no one on board was injured and no oil was released into the water. The fishing vessel, however, had technical problems with the engine and the fishing equipment after the accident, and it had to be towed to a shipyard for repairs.
