Ship detained in Topolobampo after cocaine was found on board
The 'Nordseine', which was transporting 18,000 tons of fertilizer from Manzanillo, was detained in the port of Topolobampo, where it arrived on Sep 21, 2025, after cocaine was found in its cranes. The Federal authorities was investigating the ship along with the tanker 'BW Wren' in Guaymas, Sonora. Federal authorities took cargo samples from both vessels and were awaiting laboratory results to confirm or rule out the presence of illicit substances, in a case that has put the agencies responsible for maritime security and the fight against drug trafficking in the country on alert. Before arriving in Sinaloa, the "Nordseine" transited the Panama Canal between Sep 7 and 8, remained in the port of Manzanillo from Sep 14 to 19, and subsequently headed to Topolobampo, where it currently remained under protection at the docks of the National Port System Administration (Asipona).
