Three Chinese crew members of the 'MSXT Echo' were found consciousless in a cargo hold of the bulk carrier on Sep 6, 2023, off Taiwan's eastern coast. The ship, carrying a cargo of coal, was en route from Richards Bay to Hoping. It was due to berth on Sep 10 and was cruising in loops along the coast. The Taiwanese Coastguard was alerted, and the Airborn Service transported the men to the Hualien hospital, where all three were pronounced dead. The vessel remained at sea as of Sep 8.
