Container ship aground off Port Klang
The "UMM Salal" ran aground in the Malacca Strait 15 miles off the Port Klang entrance shortly after she left the port on Apr 6, 2017, at 8.15 a.m. en route to Khor Fakkan. She got stuck near the fairway and the traffic separation zone. The Malaysian supply vessel "Spica" (MMSI: 533000420) was attending the casualty. The "Umm Salal" was serving the UASC's AGX1 service linking China via Port Klang with the Middle East.
Giant container ship was stuck on Scheldt river
In the morning of Jan 31, 2015, the "Umm Salal", coming from the Antwerp Gateway Terminal, ran aground on the river Scheldt near Lillo. The Container ship had öeft the Deurgang Dock at 8:40 a.m. and was turned towards the North Sea by two tugs when the engines failed and the heavily loaded vessel ran aground outside the shipping channel in the mud. Largest ever UASC vessel to call in the Middle East
Gulftainer, the largest privately owned port operator in the world, has announced the arrival of the ‘Umm Salal’ at the Khorfakkan Container Terminal (KCT). The vessel docked at its facility in Khorfakkan on the early hours of 12th March and stayed for 24 hours before moving on to its next destination. The ship is the largest ever UASC vessel to call in the Middle East. The A13-class vessel boasts a maximum container capacity of 13,500 TEU, a maximum height of 68 metres and an overall length of 366 metres, making it one of the biggest vessels ever to enter the recently expanded terminal.
