Dredger breached when hitting obstruction
Lifeboat teams were called out to rescue the crew of the "WD Mersey" in the early hours of Oct 25, 2014. The vessek was carrying out dredging operations at Nigg in the Cromarty Firth when it struck an object under the water. The Aberdeen Coastguard received the call and Invergordon Lifeboat was launched just before 7 a.m. Once they had arrived, they helped the two crew-members off the ship and used a salvage pump to help stop the water ingress. The dredger which was listing to port was then escorted back to Nigg Energy Park dock for an underwater inspection by divers.
