Tanker attacked by seven pirates
The "Nordic Freedom" was attacked by seven pirates in position 03 19 N 005 24 E in the area of the Agbami field in the morning of Apr 7, 2016. The tanker which was in ballast was drifting, awaiting oil loading at the Agbami field. The pirates tried to board the tanker, but failed because of the high freeboard. The tanker started to move towards Agbami FPSO, and the pirates fled after the Nigerian Navy Ship "Okpabana" was alerted, which was on routine patrol of the area. On Apr 8 the tanker berthed at the Aqbami Offshore Terminal.
