Nordic slammed into lock of Kiel Canal
Enroute from Rostock to Bremen the "Nordic" allided with gate 4 of the small Northern lock in Brunsbüttel on Nov 12, 2016, around 4 a.m. The accident happened in dense fog when the vessel was about to leave the Kiel Canal towards the Northsea. The ship remained inside the lock for investigations until 9 a.m. before continuing the voyage towards the Weser. She berthed at the Vulkan Yard in Bremen at 8.20 p.m. The lock chamber had to be closed for repairs which were expected to last until the midday hours of Nov 14.
