Medevac off Schulpengat
On Mar 29, 2012, the KRNM-lifeboat "Joke Dijkstra" was dispatched to a medevac off the "Eemshorn" enroute Rotterdam-Tornia at 6.40 p.m. after a crewmember had suffered a hand injury. The ship was off Callantsoog at that time and headed towards Schulpengat so that the "Joke Dijkstra" was alongside 30 miuntes later. At 8 p.m. the "Joke Dijkstra" was back in Helder, and the man was transferred to the Gemini hospital. Meanwhile the Eemshorn steamed slowly northward. The wound, however, was so severely that the man was unable to return to his ship. Upon receipt of the message the "Eemshorn" resumed its voyage to Tornio.
