The 'MSC Seascape' brokes free from its dock at the private island in Ocean Cay as high winds cause mooring lines to snap on May 31, 2025.The ship had left the port of Miami on May 29 for a Bahamian weekend cruise to Nassau on May 30-31 to the Ocean Cay Marine Reserve. Ataround 3 p.m. heavy winds on their starboard side caused too much pressure, which exceeded the holding capacity of the mooring lines. As passengers were heading back to the ship for safety amid and to get out of the wind and rain, the main bow lines began to snap/break leaving the ships bow to go adrift. Immediately the alarm was raised. and the crew sprang into action to secure the ship and hold the passengers back from boarding as the ship unexpectedly pulled away from the dock. The gangway fell into the water. Due to the fast-acting crew, there were only minor injuries, and the crew managed the emergency flawlessly as trained. Ocean Cay was the second and final stop on the 3-night getaway sailing to the Bahamas, with the cruise ship returning to Miami on the morning of June 1. A 44 year old female passenger on the 'MSC Seascape', while en route from Port Miami said she was raped twice in her cabin, each time by a crew member. The woman, from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, filed a criminal report with Miami-Dade County police on Dec. 7, 2024 the day the ship returned to port. The department was investigating the complaint. The cruise company, in a statement, acknowledged a “serious allegation was made on board by a guest that involved two crew members. We immediately contacted the relevant law enforcement authorities, while providing every assistance for the guest’s well-being, and have fully supported the investigation." The woman had complained about the way the case was handled on board the ship after filing a report. The case was now in the hands of the state attorney’s office. The ship had departed Port Miami on Nov. 30 and returned to the port on Dec 7. The passenger, traveling by herself, said she was taking anti-anxiety medication and then made the mistake of drinking rum punch. She remembered she became wobbly, then went to the buffet to get some food to bring back to her room and then go to sleep. A waiter spotted her and took her plate to her room. Rather than the waiter dropping the food off and leaving, the passenger said he stayed, pulled down his pants and forced himself on her. The next day, a crew member at the top of a ship staircase spotted her. She said she told him what room she was staying in. She then heard a knock on the door. It was the second crew member. She said he then raped her. She reported the two incidents to ship security.

The US Coast Guard suspended the search for a crew member of the 'MSC Seascape' in the night of Nov 15, who was believed to have fallen overboard in the Atlantic Ocean north of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. Still missing was a 30-year-old man of Indian nationality who was reportedly observed going overboard, approximately 80 feet from the bow of the ship from a height of approximately 32 feet above the water. He was reportedly wearing a white shirt and red shorts. Coast Guard watchstanders received initial notification of the incident from the cruise ship on Nov 12 at approximately 8:57 p.m. when it was en route from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. A Coast Guard aircrew deployed a self-locating datum marker buoy which measures sea currents to assist with search planning efforts. Rescue crews located the three life rings in the morning of Nov 15, of which two were recovered, unfortunately search efforts did not yield signs of a survivor. The Coast Guard air and surface assets searched for a total of 34 hours completing 12 searches and covering approximately 887 square nautical miles within the established search area.
